Who We Are

Welcome to the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Delta Zeta Chapter website. Thanks for exploring and learning more about our sorority and chapter.

More than eight decades ago, five women chartered the Charlotte, North Carolina graduate chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated with a resolute mission to help improve the community through service. The following passionate, finer women laid the foundation for Delta Zeta Chapter to positively impact the City of Charlotte:
Ethel Butler
Thelma Harris Hunt
Lucille Robinson
Laura Davidson Rollings
Sarah Scott Schofield
In Charlotte, Delta Zeta Chapter uniquely sponsors the Amicae of Charlotte (Friends of Zeta), all three youth affiliate groups (Pearlettes, Amicettes, & Archonettes), and two undergraduate chapters (Kappa, Johnson C. Smith University and Upsilon Xi, University of North Carolina at Charlotte). Our mentorship of affiliates allows us to make a difference in the lives of members, infuse our chapter with innovative ideas, and honor our commitment to a better future.

Our Heritage

The Founders of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated
Our Five Pearls
Our Heritage Began with Sisterhood. Our Focus Remains Service. On January 16, 1920, our founders, Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings and Fannie Pettie Watts, collectively known as the “Five Pearls,” set out to establish a sisterhood that would help raise the consciousness of their people, encourage the highest standards of academic and personal achievement, and address the societal ills disproportionately affecting disadvantaged communities.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, a community-conscious, action-oriented organization, was founded on the campus of Howard University on the principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood.

Honoring the Past. Focusing on Today. Defining the Future.

The Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation provides philanthropic support for Delta Zeta Chapter initiatives, enabling the organization to more strategically meet the needs of the greater Charlotte community.

The Delta Zeta Chapter established the benevolent foundation in April 2001 as a 501(c)(3) organization to implement meaningful cultural, educational, and civic initiatives. From annual scholarships to emergency disaster relief, the foundation is set to help address the needs of the community.
