Benevolent Foundation

Support Us
Established in 2001 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation is funded through planned gifts, annual contributions and grants. 

The foundation’s mission is to secure and manage resources that enable the chapter’s philanthropic support to the Charlotte community. The Benevolent Foundation implements cultural, educational, and civic initiatives to help people excel and reach their full potential.
Previous and current partnerships include: • AARP • Adopt-a-Highway• American Cancer Society • March of Dimes • MedAssist • St Jude Children’s Research Hospital • The 50 Million Pound Challenge • US Census Bureau • Wells Fargo

In 2023, the Zetas of Charlotte awarded scholarships to three deserving high school seniors. These stories are a testament to the difference a community can make when we come together to create lasting change.

First Place

Scholarship Recipient

Jewel Wood

Jewel Wood is a graduating senior at Hopewell High School. She is a junior volunteer at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, president of the Religious Club HSUB, head leader of Girl Talk, Ekidz Group Leader at Elevation Church Kids Ministry, Health Committee Founder of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Principal's Council and DECA. Jewel has received numerous honors and awards including the Cambridge Diplomat Candidate Award with Merit, the College Board National African American Recognition Program 2022-23 Scholar, Junior Marshal Rise of the Titan Award and the Excellence in Honor African American Studies and English II IGCSE to name a few. Jewel maintained a 4.58 GPA and was inducted into the National Honor Society and the National Beta Club, the latter in which she also served as secretary. Jewel will be attending Howard University and plans to major in Clinical Laboratory Science.

Maya Amber Miles
 Maya Amber Miles is a graduating senior at West Charlotte High School. She is active in her school and community as a member of the National Honor Society, TRIOS, and the Student Government Association. Her honors include the A & B Honor Roll, Lion Pride, and Miss 1938. Maya has maintained a 3.7 GPA and will be attending Winston-Salem State University and plans to major in Biology.

She was bestowed the honor of Junior Marshal in May 2021 and awarded the Minnie Allison scholarship in June 2021. Nia has maintained a 4.3 GPA and will be attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and plans to major in Electrical Engineering.

Miss Blue Revue Scholarship Program supports young ladies in making an impact on the community and also assists them in accomplishing their educational goals. The program enables young ladies to make their debut to society in a grand affair.

The Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Delta Zeta Chapter are dedicated to the educational, social, and cultural enrichment of young ladies as they progress to assume leadership roles in the community.


The Purpose of our Program:
Allows participants to interact closely with chapter members as mentors, Offers participants access to a variety of college-preparatory workshops and community service 
Provides the opportunity to receive a college scholarship 
Allocates a portion of the proceeds for the benefit of the Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation, the 501(c)(3) non-profit, philanthropic organization of Delta Zeta Chapter
