
Local Undergraduate Chapters

Kappa Chapter was founded on November 26, 1946 on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University by five distinguished ladies: Marguerite Robinson, Sadie Crawford, Melvine James, Helen Kibbler and Sarah Schofield. Kappa Chapter is the only Sorority on this campus that has a single Greek letter.
In 1947, Kappa Chapter was awarded a plaque for having members with the highest scholastic
average above all other Greek organizations on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University.
To this day they continue to achieve the Sorority's State & Regional Highest GPA
awards either by the chapter as a whole or by one shining member. In fact, Soror

This chapter is accompanied by the elite men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (Alpha Epsilon Chapter). Together they work to uplift the unity of brother and sisterhood within the Greek community and promote the principles for which our wonderful organizations were founded upon.

Upsilon Xi Chapter was founded on September 20, 1991 by five distinguished and courageous women: Crystal Sterling, Daphne Satterwhite, Ktura Rendelman, Donyale Henderson, and Chanda Wright.
It is because of these young women and the lovely ladies that followed them that the Upsilon Xi Chapter remains as strong as it is today. They are an award winning chapter of strong, determined women who MAKE THINGS HAPPEN! The University and the Sorority continues to recognize and reward them for creative programming and outstanding community service.
