DELTA ZETA CHAPTER

delta Zeta history

The Delta Zeta Chapter was organized and chartered in Charlotte, NC on December 4, 1934.  With the vision that service to our community would be our greatest legacy, the following women laid the foundation for Delta Zeta to make a difference:

• Soror Ethel Butler

• Soror Thelma Harris Hunt

• Soror Lucille Robinson

• Soror Laura Davidson Rollings

• Soror Sarah Scott Schofield

In its over 80 year history, Delta Zeta has coordinated hundreds of events ranging from financial workshops, community health fairs, Easter egg hunts, voter registration drives, candidate debate forums, and much more.  The chapter prides itself on being the conduit to bring members of the community together from all walks of life.  We are here simply to serve others and will do the work to ensure than an impact is made.

Delta Zeta Chapter sponsors the Amicae of Charlotte (Friends of Zeta); as well as all three national youth affiliates: the Pearlettes, Amicettes, and Archonettes.  The chapter also provides direction and support to two undergraduate chapters: Kappa at Johnson C. Smith University and Upsilon Xi at UNC-Charlotte.

A LIFETIME COMMITMENT FOR THE BETTERMENT OF OTHERS

Without members, Zeta is nothing. We, are a group of women that have made the lifetime commitment to serve others, enrich the lives of our sisters, and are the example of Finer Womanhood in the world. Members are the lifelines that make all of our work possible. Delta Zeta is a robust and historic chapter with new and refreshing energy. Our members are active, willing to lead and give of their talents, time and treasure.
